Hoax hijack threat at Athens International Airport

first_imgGreek officials called off an emergency at Athens International Airport late on Friday after the warnings received by an anonymous caller turned out to be a hoax.The caller alerted authorities to the threat of possible hijackings of airlines flying from London to Athens.Security services were on alert after the caller signalled the warning by calling a shop inside the airport. The caller said that there her possible hijackings of three planes flying from London to the Greek capital.Security was immediately alerted. The planes were led to an isolated section of the airfield where passport and security checks were conducted while sniffer dogs searched the inside of the aircraft for possible explosives.
