first_imgArsenal ‘Arsenal stagnated under Wenger’ – Aubameyang excited by Emery era Chris Burton Last updated 1 year ago 20:30 5/24/18 FacebookTwitterRedditcopy Comments(8) Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Arsene Wenger Getty Arsenal Premier League Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Arsène Wenger The Gunners have made a first managerial change in 22 years, with those inside and outside Emirates Stadium aware that the time had come for change Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has admitted that Arsenal “stagnated” towards the end of Arsene Wenger’s reign, with all concerned now looking forward to a fresh start under Unai Emery. After 22 years of stability and continuity in north London, the managerial baton at Emirates Stadium has changed hands this summer.Former Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain boss Emery has been appointed as Wenger’s successor and charged with the task of returning Arsenal to the Champions League and getting them back on the trophy trail. Emery on borrowed time after another abysmal Arsenal display Diving, tactical fouls & the emerging war of words between Guardiola & Klopp Sorry, Cristiano! Pjanic is Juventus’ most important player right now He has some big shoes to fill, but recent regression suggests that change was required.Record signing Aubameyang admits as much, telling RMC on the movement in the dugout: “I think it’s a little bit of a mixed feeling in fact.”On one hand, it’s strange for all the fans that the coach has left. But it’s definitely a fresh start.”Since over the last few seasons – you have to tell the truth – the club has stagnated a little bit, I think everyone is actually a little bit excited to see what happens next season.”It is strange that the coach has left after 22 years. But that’s life – we have to look forward.“It’s going to be a new start so we’ll have so we’ll have to see how it goes… everyone will have to get it into their heads that we have to work hard to rival the best.”Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Arsenal stagnatedAubameyang added on the arrival of Emery: “He’s a really good coach.”In Paris, it’s never very easy. There’s a huge amount of pressure… I know he did really good work with Sevilla and with PSG too.”It remains to be seen what role Aubameyang will be asked to fill by Emery, but the Gabonese forward – who netted 10 Premier League goals in 13 appearances following a mid-season arrival in 2017-18 – is hoping to be used in a favoured position down the middle, preferably with a strike partner alongside him.He added: “I think everybody knows that I like playing through the centre.“I hope that we can play with two attackers – that would be ideal. But if the new coach needs me on the wing, there’s no problem.” Check out Goal’s Premier League 2019-20 fantasy football podcast for game tips, debate and rivalries.last_img read more

| jbnpwlyfk

first_imgCity Touch’s victory in this year’s event avenged last year’s runner up positions in both the Men’s and Women’s Open divisions at the hands of Adelaide Uni. The Blacks again proved they were a force reaching both finals however it was City Touch’s turn in 2011.At the commencement of play on day two it was always going to be a battle between the two heavyweight clubs but a tight one with games going either way in pool play. The Women’s Open final lived up to all the hype with both Adelaide Uni and City unable to score prior to half-time. Shortly after half-time City Touch drew first blood and this lifted the young City team, who were able to run out winners 4-1 in the end and claim their maiden State Cup Women’s Open crown. An arm wrestle was predicted in the Men’s final as well and it was Adelaide Uni who flew out of the blocks scoring the opening touchdown in the first 30 seconds of the grand final. Not to be outdone, City immediately hit back levelling the encounter 1-all. Both sides traded early blows however at the break it was City who had built up a handy buffer of 5-2 in a frantic first half. Desperate to keep in the game Adelaide Uni scored first, however multiple scores from Mitch Annetts and Tim Glazebrook secured the title for City Touch who ended up running out comfortable winners in the end 8-4.With the two grand final victories under their belts City Touch Club was crowned 2011 SA Champion Affiliate (State Cup Champions).Flinders Touch also had reason to be proud claiming third position overall and having a great time in doing so. The guys and girls from Flinders also had reason to celebrate when Dave Harris was named Male Most Valuable Player of the tournamentKelly Rowe added the icing on the City Touch cake claiming the Women’s Open Most Valuable Player in what has been a stellar 2011 for the 18-year-old.Of course the officials also were rewarded with Phil Spencer being named Referee of the Tournament and also receiving an upgrade to Level 3 referee. Other referees to receive upgrades were Kate Bain and Denis Wooldrige who both were upgraded to Level 2.Both SA Heat and Alliance selectors were pleased with the tournament, with several players identified as potential representative players for both squads.Touch Football South Australia would like to congratulate and thank all players and affiliates who participated and make special mention to all the referees and selectors who once again did an outstanding job. Please also find attached the November edition of the TFSA Newsletter, Touch Shorts.
