TOWN OF CHENANGO (WBNG) — McGirk’s Irish Pub is back open after having to closed due to a customer testing positive for COVID-19. “Doing more of the very intense deep cleaning of certain areas even if it’s just a window sill outside that nobody really pays attention to,” Ward said. “We’re paying attention to every area now.” After announcing the pub was temporarily closing, the customer that tested positive reached out to McGirk’s owner, Meg Ward. The staff is continuing to wear gloves and masks while preparing food and drinks. center_img Ward says they could handle the situation because they were following all of the required guidelines before the positive test. They’re just taking it up a couple of notches. “We have done everything we are supposed to be doing and then some,” Ward said. “Just one day we miss seeing our customers because they’re very important to us. They’re like family.” As soon as customers arrive, there are signs reminding customers to wear masks and social distance. Ward says the Broome County Health Department was open and helpful with her on the path to reopening. last_img read more

Travel no concern for Kingman team

| dqfldfcxm

first_imgConnections of Kingman have no concerns about travelling to the Curragh for Saturday’s Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas. Teddy Grimthorpe, owner Khalid Abdullah’s racing manager, told At The Races: “He was broken in in Ireland so he’s not going to be a total stranger (to travelling). I wouldn’t be too concerned about that. “I don’t think anyone would want to see it being run in a bog, but he certainly won’t mind any juice in the ground – in fact I’m sure he’ll relish it. “He came out of the race at Newmarket very well and has trained straightforwardly and worked very nicely on Saturday on the Limekilns.” Press Associationcenter_img John Gosden’s star colt lost his unbeaten record in the Guineas at Newmarket when beaten by Richard Hannon’s 40-1 shot Night Of Thunder, who had been easily brushed aside by Kingman in the Greenham at Newbury just a few weeks before. Kingman is an odds-on favourite to claim his first Group One success this weekend and with rain around in Ireland, he is expected to get his favoured conditions, too. last_img read more

first_imgBarcelona, May 19 : FC Barcelona bid their official farewell to long-time captain Andres Iniesta with an event at Camp Nou that highlighted the legendary midfielder’s role in the team’s tremendous success over the past decade.Iniesta, 34, joined the Barcelona organisation as a 12-year-old, playing in the youth divisions and the B team before being promoted to the main squad in 2002.The entire team and coaching staff, current and former club executives, Iniesta’s family, ex-teammates Samuel Eto’o and Xavi Hernandez, and world-class athletes from other sports such as NBA stars Pau and Marc Gasol were among the roughly 300 invited guests on Friday.Journalist Jordi Evole played the role of master of ceremonies, introducing Sergio Busquets, Xavi, Eto’o, Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba and others who took the microphone to share anecdotes from a podium crowded with trophies representing the 32 titles Iniesta has won with Barcelona, including the 2017-2018 La Liga and Copa del Rey.“These final hours are not passing easily. It’s difficult to accept it and to think that the moment is coming to leave the club. I’m trying to enjoy it to the max, especially on Sunday when I will say goodbye to what has been my home,” Iniesta said two days ahead of his final match with Barça.The tribute began with the screening of a video about Iniesta’s career featuring commentary by former Barcelona stars Pau Gasol, Iker Casillas, Pep Guardiola, Luis Enrique Martinez, Marc Marquez and Franck Ribery, among many others.“I am left with the pride I feel for having grown as a person and player in this club, for me it’s the best in the world,” a choked-up Iniesta said to a standing ovation.Sunday’s match at the Camp Nou against Real Sociedad will be Iniesta’s chance to say his goodbyes to Barcelona supporters. | dqfldfcxm

first_img“I want to stress that I will extend this order and keep the beaches closed past July 7 if we do not see people taking this seriously.” Gimenez said that he had no other choice but to order a closure after the reports of non-compliance of residents. The mayor said he is also sending a stern warning ahead of time, that if people don’t comply with the Fourth of July restrictions, he’s willing to shut down the beaches even longer. After seeing a massive increase in COVID-19 cases last week, Mayor of Miami-Dade County Carlos Gimenez has announced that beaches will be closed for the Fourth of July weekend. Fort Lauderdale Mayor Dean Trantalis said it is also likely that other counties including Broward County will also make a similar announcement. All Miami-Dade beaches will close on July 3 and remain closed through July 7, but could be extended.Parks will continue to close at 8 p.m. daily.Fireworks displays must be viewed from home or from your car.Gatherings of more than 50 people are restricted. The order that will guide holiday activities in the county states that: “I can foresee a Fourth of July where you have throngs of people on the beach, very difficult to keep social distancing, people getting together, especially young people getting together. We now see this virus is prevalent in this age group and we want to keep this down, Gimenez said.last_img read more
